An Inspiring Holiday Is All You Need To Get The Creative Juices Flowing..

Hello everyone!

I am sorry for the inactivity over the past month. I have just got home from a month long holiday around America with my family and friends. We started off in Atlanta, then off to Chattanooga, Lynchburg, Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans and then we finished our holiday in Florida staying in the most beautiful Disney hotel, Saratoga Springs Resort.

As much as I enjoyed every minute of my holiday, I have been itching to get home and draw! Putting all my plans for my art on hold for a month was slightly frustrating but I am now home with a completely fresh and inspired mind. I dont know about you, but it doesn’t matter how many times I go to DisneyWorld, it is never any less magical than it was the first time. I could stand in Main Street and smell the sweet air from the Main Street Bakery every day and it would never get old. I always get the most overwhelming feeling of inspiration while I’m at Disney. Perhaps it’s because it all started as a dream in Walt’s head and it didnt matter how many people doubted him, he made that dream a reality. Have you ever heard the quote.. “If you can dream it, you can do it”. How can that not inspire everyone who walks through the gates of the Magic Kingdom?.

Anyway, back to art. I photographed some amazing reference photos while I was away. Mostly of birds and wildlife in Florida. So be ready to see some colourful creatures soon. Here’s a little peak at a couple of photos I took..2F80E375-4415-4766-BCCE-4B4B23B5F1F8

Plans for the next few weeks..

I have so many different brands of coloured pencils, I mix and match depending on which colour I need for the subject I’m drawing. Because of that, I dont really know how well one brand would work on its own, and now I feel like challenging myself. So for my next few drawings I will be using just one brand of coloured pencils at a time with the exception of Brush and Pencils titanium white and touch up texture mixture for the white highlights. Then I will write a review on my blog for each one. I might try out different papers for each drawing depending on the subject, but for my first piece which I am starting later, I am going to use Derwent Procolour coloured pencils on Strathmore Bristol Vellum paper, (which I have never used before!) wish me luck 🙂

I will post a picture of the start of my drawing on my Instagram page later on! I’m looking forward to being more active on my instagram page every day from now on. Please feel free to ask me any questions if you have any.

See you next week!
